a painted portrait is hand drawn and takes alot longer whereas a photographic portrait is captured by a camera.

Actually it is portrait. Landscape is when the printout is wider than it is tall.
Normally we print on pages in Portrait mode, but if you are printing the other way, it is called Landscape. They their names from the usual orientation of paintings of each type.
