i suggest try spraying wd-40 where the glass slides. if that doesn't it's gonna be the window regulator.
Bad motor? bad switch?
IF THIS IS A POWER WINDOW THE MOTOR IS GOING BAD.IT HAS THE POWER TO PULL THE WINDOW DOWN BUT PUSHING IT UP IS MUCH HARDER FOR THE MOTOR.GEARS COULD ALSO BE THE ISSUE IN THE MOTOR IF IT MAKES A GRINDING NOISE IT IS THE GEARS,IF JUST NOT PUSHING UP THE WINDOW THE MOTOR IS JUST GOING BAD.
bad power window motor
The motor might be burnt out or the window might be off the track.
its jammed you have to take off the whole door panel and window motor to get it back up then it will work fine again.
The most common problem is a failure in the gears in the window motor. eBay has many vendors for the parts or any auto parts store can get them.
I was looking at the fuse diagrams for a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac : In the Power Distribution Box in the engine compartment ( which is " live ) Fuse # 3 is a 30 amp cartridge fuse for - power down back window Fuse # 47A is a 20 amp mini fuse for - windows / roof Relay # 48 - is the window safety relay also , in the interior fuse panel in the drivers end of the dash ( the fuse panel cover is visible with the drivers door open ) fuse # 20 is a 7.5 amp fuse for - power down back window , GEM , radio , moonroof relay , and power window relay
the motor is going out and needs to be replaced. Same thing happened on my 93 explorer.
Yes
window regulator
main switch is bad
The window goes down easier because gravity is helping. The window tracks could be dirty or the motor could be weak, causing the trouble going up.
