When John F. Kennedy was elected as US president in 1960, he had new policies and goals for the US. They are too many to speak about in limited space, however, one of his goals was civil rights for Blacks and other minorities. Another goal was to be able to have NASA begin a program to reach the moon. Kennedy also hoped to contain communism in Vietnam and to also work on a test ban treaty for nuclear weapons.
