UGC Chief Warns About Amity Ranking Claim New Delhi: University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman, Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat, has warned students in general to take guard of Amity University advertisement in few Delhi papers claiming themselves to be one of the best in the country. Prof Thorat clarified that the onus of ranking the higher education bodies lies with National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore and no university can take upon itself the task of deciding its ranking. He added that the UGC would ask NAAC officials to instigate action against the University. Amity University in advertisements published in some Delhi newspapers, had claimed to be the one of the best universities in India. This despite the fact that the UGC (www.ugc.ac.in) has not listed it in the list of approved universities. Moreover, Association of Indian Universities (www.aiuweb.org), the authoritative association of UGC, which approves universities in the country has not yet approved membership to it. Prof Thorat asserted that National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bangalore is the only statutory body entrusted with the right to rank the universities in the country. Thorat, who is also the Chairman of the General Council of the NAAC, intends to send a team in the month of May to assess the Amity University. Many of the officials of NAAC are dissatisfied with the publication of such advertisements by the Amity University. Chairman of the Executive Council of the NAAC, Prof Goverdhan Mehta, in his statement has condemned this act of Amity University. He cautioned the credulous students to be careful of such advertisements. Any other organization, apart from NAAC and NBA, performing this task is illegal. Amity University
Concentration sodium acetate (C(NaAc)) solution with pH = 9.05 will have to be 0.21 mol/L NaAc, while pK(NaAc) = 9.23Calculate with these formula: [OH-] = SQRT[K(NaAc) * C(NaAc)] soC(NaAc) = [OH-]2 / K(NaAc) = 0.21 mol/L NaAcin which [OH-] = 10(-14 + 9.05) = 10-4.95 = 1.12*10-5and K(NaAc) = 10-9.23 = 5.89*10-10
