I'm not entirely sure but I would guess it is the antenna for the radio. It could also be a wire to heat up the windshield electrically, so that it does not ice up or frost up. That is common in read windshields. But if the wire is in the front windshield and runs around the edge of the glass, it is most likely the radio antenna.
