you could have a hole in one of your pipes or hoses that the water went throw.
Water coming out the tailpipe means there is water in the exhaust. This is not uncommon when the engine is cold and the exhaust is condensing. That situation should stop when the engine warms up. If the exhaust continues to have water in it after the engine is warmed up it could possibly indicate a leaky head gasket or cracked cylinder head.
Very normal. It is condensation. Very normal. It is condensation.
Water (condensation) is a normal condition with a cold engine as stated below, but not oil?? Perhaps a bad head gasket/cracked head/ or block Water coming out of the tailpipe is not uncommon. You will probably see on a lot of cars on humid days with water coming out of the tailpipe usually it goes away once your engine and exhausts have warmed up. Check out the links below for better explanation. It also depends on how old your truck is. Trucks with less than 1000 miles on them sometimes have an oily residue exit out of the tailpipe. During maunafacturing of exhaust pipes, lubricants are used to prevent rust. Check the oil with a blacklight because a dye is usually added to initial oil in the engine. If you have a diesel, then you may have oil coming from the engine, loosen the exhaust pipe from the turbocharger and look for signs of oil exiting the tailpipe. If the turbo is leaking oil you probably have worn bearings in it and possibe wheel hub replacement.
Of course it cannot be coolant . . . the engine heat would boil it off quite quickly. However, the exhaust gases from an engine contain water vapor. This water vapor cools when it contacts the much cooler tail pipe, and gives up some of itself as liquid water. This is the water you see coming out of the tailpipe. Once the tailpipe heats up, you don't see that water, anymore. This is very similar to water vapor in the air condensing on a cold glass of lemonade or coke. The water vapor in the air is cooled by the cold glass, and gives up some of itself as liquid water. This is also what causes dew droplets to form on the ground on plants.
they have elected a pope? in cold weather it is normal to see white smoke coming out of your tailpipe. the one you have to worry about is the black or the blue smoke
I'm not a mechanic but did you check your water level? If your coolant is low it can't be pumped thus it overheats and cold air from the heater is another hint of low coolant level. You may have a slow leak somewhere. Hope this helped.
You will see steam come from the tailpipe in the winter which is caused by the hot exhaust coming from the engine making contact with the cold metal in the exhaust system. This is normal and no cause for alarm. However if the white smoke does not dissipate almost instantly and seems to continue you may have a blown head gasket. If the exhaust smells sweet you almost certainly have a problem and the gasket is blown. A blown gasket will destroy the engine in time. If you are not sure have it looked at by a professional.
Only when cold? Condensation burning off Normal condition When at normal operating temperature - could be a leaking head gasket Run engine to normal operating temperature - remove engine oil dipstick and let a drop fall on hot engine part - oil will smoke coolant will sizzle
If only when cold--probably condensation NormalIf when hot probably head gasket starting to leakAnswerThe water coming from the exhaust system/tailpipe is simply condensation, and is normal on all automobiles.
Some water often comes from the tailpipe when first stating the car, especially in cold weather. This is due to condensation. On the other hand if the water does not stop coming from the tail pipe when the machine has warmed up and you are using excessive amounts of coolant or water you may have a faulty head gasket, cracked head or cracked block. If the later is the case your motor will be overheating and water will most probably also be finding its way into your oil which will wreck the wearing surfaces of the motor if you do not stop it immediately The oil turning white is a tell tale sign of this.
Blown head gasket. Imagine a cylinder with 4 slots around the outside of the cylinder, and then put a cap on the cylinder with corresponding slots so the slots all meet at the top but are kept separate to the cylinder and then you fill the slots with water, you could say you effectively have a "water jacket" around the cylinder. In order to keep the water out of the cylinder, you must have some sort of material to stop the water leaking in. The material is called a gasket. When it no longer seals, you then have a problem. The gasket is inexpensive but to get to it is time consuming and , thus expensive. Sorry. --------------- Actually, it is normal to see water coming out of a tailpipe. That is merely condensed water vapor as a by-product of the combustion process. Look around on a cold morning and you will see water vapor (white smoke) coming out of most cars. As the car warms up,the exhaust heats up ant the water vapor/water stops coming out of your tailpipe. Unles you smell or see anti-freeze coming out of the tailpipe, dont worry about the water.
You don't! H2O is a product of combustion, and that is just how it is! That is why in cold weather you see "fog"; same liquid, different temp.
