bad fuse for fuel pump relay bad fuel pump relay bad electrical connection clogged fuel filter anybody else have any suggestions ?
The emergency shut-off switch, also known as the inertia switch, for a 1996 Ford Ranger is typically located in the passenger side footwell, near the kick panel. To reset it, simply press the reset button on top of the switch until you hear a click. If the vehicle still doesn't start, check for other potential issues such as blown fuses or fuel supply problems.
Yes, the engine may still have spark even if the fuel pump inertia switch is tripped. The inertia switch primarily cuts off fuel supply to prevent fuel leaks in the event of an accident, but it does not affect the ignition system directly. Therefore, while the engine may spark, it will likely not run properly due to the lack of fuel.
Assuming you have checked the bulbs, check the brake light switch.
You should be able to reset it by pushing down on the tab on the switch. I am of course assuming that you are referring to the inertia switch. At the same time you push down on the switch take note of how hard it is to do it. It should feel quite firm if the switch is still good but if there is almost no effort at all the switch is likely shot. This applies to all Ford inertia switches of all years.
The alternator is probably faulty - you might take it to Auto Zone and have it checked for free.
only thing left to check is the light switch
I hope you checked the fuse.
need help with a ford ranger the blower switch all been replace that there all work .but still no heat So told that there are a door that turn from Ac to Heat some where upon the dash .
If a washer pump was replaced on a Jeep Wrangler and is still not working the fuses should be checked. The washer switch should also be checked as it could also be causing the pump not to work.
Not sure if the '92 Lumina has an inertia switch or not. The inertia switch (also called fuel shut-off switch) will trip in an accident and shut off the electrical power to the fuel pump. You might want to check your owner's manual to see if there is one and where it is located. Also to learn how to reset it.
Did you check the switch on the brake pedal assembly?
It's located under the instrument panel to the right of the transmission hump, behind the carpet or vinyl. I had to reset it on my 93 ranger but its still in the same location as a 94 ranger. Hope this helped
