Best Answer

Yes. Read Only Memory remains on a chip or a disk. You can not change it. It does not vanish when the computer is turned off. Some programs can access ROM. Sometimes disks crash. You should have backups.

Is Rom is volatile or non volatile?

ROM is non-volatile memory.

What is ROM and example?

Rom is a non volatile memory

What has non-volatile memory and can be reprogrammed?

Flash Rom

What is the classification of ROMs?

Rom :- Read Only Memory. The storage of data and instructions in Rom is permanent. It does not depend on the power supply. The memory which does not lose its content when power is turned off is known as non-volatile memory. There are three types of Rom :- Prom = Programmable read only memory Eprom= Erasable Prom EEprom=Electrically erasable prom

How do prom and eprom differ from each other?

Ans. Read Only Memory (ROM):Another important part of main memory is Read Only Memory (ROM). Instructions can only be read from ROM. Instructions once written on ROM chip cannot be changed. It is a permanent or non-volatile memory of a computer, i.e. the contents of this type of memory are not lost when the computer is turned off. As soon as the computer is turned on, a program that resides in ROM automatically makes the computer ready for use. ROM is a semiconductor memory generally programmed by the manufacturer.Difference between PROM and EPROM:(Programmable Read Only Memory):It is a non-permanent memory of a computer. It is programmeable read only memory.EPROM (Erasable and programmable Read Only Memory):It is a non-permanent memory of a computer. It is programmeable and erase able read only memory.

What is the permanent memory built into your computer called?

Permanent memory is non-erasable memory, so the right answer to this question is: ROM (Read Only Memory).

Is ROM non volatile?

Read Only Memory (ROM) is non-volatile. Basically, the computer manufacturer write coding onto the ROM chip that will start up the computer, but which the user is not expected to interfere with. The volatile memory is the Random-access memory (RAM), which is wiped clean on shut down unless the data is first saved to the hard drive, etc.

Which of the following terms is the most closely related to main memory?

non volatile ROM

Why rom is non volatile memory?

ROM is involatile because its name means Read Only Memory, hinting that the data stored on it cannot be altered. The word involatile means long term and not changeable.

Type of hardware memory?

There is:- Random Access Memory (RAM), Read-Only Memory (ROM), Flash Memory (CMOS Chip), non-volatile memory (Hard Drive).

Why flash memory is non volatile in nature?

Flash memory is what is called RAM/ROM it is both RAM ( Random Access Memory ) and ROM ( Read Only Memory ). Flash memory can be used to store data, but has a limited number of writes before the memory "forgets that it exists." ROM is the same thing as a hard disk's memory. It's in a solid state when the power is off. ( Stored as a magnetic charge. )

Difference between erasable and non erasable memory?

Non-erasable memory which can not be erased after the manufactured like ROM bcz at the time of manufactured ROM are programed . erasable memory which can be remove or replaced by another content like EEPROM by:- Mohammad danish from old delhi Email id :- kdanish270987@gmail.com
