The 1970s saw the birth of Master Charge, which became MasterCard.
The painter who developed the first pan-European style of painting was Peter Paul Rubens, the Flemish master (1577-1640).
An apprentice's first tasks were humble: sweeping, running errands, preparing the wooden panels for painting, and grinding and mixing pigments. As the apprentice's skills grew, he would begin to learn from his master: drawing sketches, copying paintings, casting sculptures, and assisting in the simpler aspects of creating art works. The best students would assist the master with important commissions, often painting background and minor figures while the Master painted the main subjects. The few apprentices who showed amazing skill could eventually become masters themselves. A very few became greater artists than their masters. One legend tells of the young Leonardo da Vinci painting an angel so perfectly that his master Verrocchio broke his brushes in two and gave up painting forever in recognition of his pupil's superior abilities.
It would be more correct to say that this first painting was the work of Leonardo's master, Andrea del Verrocchio: Baptism of Christ. It is believed that two (rather small) parts of this was painted by Leonardo.

He became famous in his mid 30's so yes he was famous when he was alive. He first became famous when he did his painting when he was 33.
Raphael not only allowed artists to speak out and express themselves in a new way - showing the world as it was for the first time. Real portraits etc. But he changed society by giving others courage to speak out. Peasants rebelled against kings etc. He lead the way in speaking your opinion and not following the crowd and conforming to socitey expectations. I'm doing an assignment on him and anyone that has any answers to my questions that would be a great help :) Q1. What was the background setting or context in which Raphael lived and worked? Q2. What were Raphaels achivements or contributions to the history of his time and to future generations. Q3. What was the cost of Raphael and his unique qualities and contributions? Q4. Reflecting on Raphael, how might he compare to someone who has contributed great things to the world in modern times? For Q4.
