Jesus said that he and the Father (God) were One. He also said, "when you see me, you see him that sent me." Jesus said that I am the True Vine and my Father is the Husbandman. When jesus asked, "who do men say that I the son of man am". Peter answered him and said "thou art the Christ the Son of the living God" Jesus said flesh and blood hath not revealed this unto you but my Father which is heaven. Jesus said, "I am The Way, the Truth , and the Life no man comes unto the father but by me". Jesus was definitely a Rabbi as evidenced at the wedding at Cana of Galilee where he changed water into wine; his first miracle. Jesus was very well versed in the Torah and went to the synagogue every sabbath, where he stood up to read as was his custom. He often taught as one having authority and not as the scribes. His original contribution was to preach the kingdom of God to those that had long been held captive by that wicked on Satan. He defeated the devil and made an open show of him by overcoming death, hell, and the grave. He did miracles and increased the faith of the people, he walked on water, he quited a storm at sea, he raised the dead both metaphorically and physically as in the case of Lazarus. He healed lepers, he made the lame to walk, and gave sight to the blind. Finally, Jesus gave hope to a dying world by getting out of the grave after being dead for three days and ascending into heaven where he has been reported to have been seen sitting on the right hand of the Father.

According to prophecy, the only identifiable tribe of Israel in the time of Jesus was Judah, the holder of the Sceptre Promise of a Savior. The Mosaic teachings of the Congregation of Israel were given more burdensome rules by the ruling religious authorities - over 130 of them - which expanded the 'letter of the Law' beyond its intent. This was the common day Judaism.

Jesus came to expand the Law of God by giving man the 'spirit of the Law' and joining the two together to show the true intent of God's Law - not as a burden but as a guide of Love for mankind - a mirror for all to live by.

What was the religion in Jesus' time in Galilee?

It might of been Chrirstianity, Judaism or Islamic. This answer is erroneous. Islam is based on the teaching Muhammed said he received from Allah in 610 AD, that is, some 600 years after Jesus´birth. There were no Muslims in Jesus´day. Also, the religion of Jesus´day was not Christianity, since, though during His three-year ministry He had many followers, Christianity had its initiation with the physical resurrection of Christ. The religion of Galilee in Jesus´time was Judaism, though the Greeks and Romans who had moved to the area were polytheists.
