that car has a cable drive for the window the motor uses a pulley system driving cables to lift it up or down. it is call the window regulator. if the motor is still running the cable has broken. it very common failure.
P.S. don't buy a cheap aftermarket replacement they only last about a year maybe two buy it from a g.m. dealer it'll be expensive but it'll work much longer and use a non conductive non gumming spray grease on the new regulator before installing it.
