alright i just did a fender replacement on my 97 sentra and put a fender from a 95 on it which had the same body so your 98 should be exactly the same. I did the driver side if youd like to do the passenger side itll be exactly the same, only difference being that you will have to remove the radio antenna which I'm not really sure how to do. anyway here we go, you will need a Phillips screwdriver, a 10mm wrench or socket both wouldn't be a bad idea, and something to get the car partially off the ground either a jack or i used those ramps you drive up. this isn't a hard operation requires some patience and about 2hrs max or your time.
1. under the hood there is a silver Phillips head screw attaching the front turn signal lens to the headlight, you will need to take out that screw and remove that lens there are a bunch of bolts behind the lens that require you to take it out. after you undo that screw it should just pull straight ahead towards the nose of the car, unclip the bulb from the lens and remove the lens entirely.
2. there are 3 bolts at the top of the fender securing it to the car approx where the fender meets the hood. use the wrench or socket to get those 3 out.
3. there are 2 silver bolts in the front of the car located where you removed the turn signal lens, undo those they connect the headlight to the fender.
4. underneath those 2 silver bolts there should be 2 more body coloured bolts located on the fender bracket, there fairly easy to see and are only a couple inches apart from each other. take those out.
5. you will not need to take the wheel well lining out, but you will need to loosen it and disconnect it from the fender. there should be 2-4 Phillips heads in the wheel well liner near the edge of the fender arches, remove those, just go around the edge of the fender and unscrew all the Phillips heads you see, should be 2-4 of them.
6. in the front of the car in the wheel well liner, there is a bolt on the inside of the front bumper. this one is a bit tricky to find, you will need to pull at the liner which may be a little stuborn, but you will need to partially peel it back to get at the bolt behind it. it connects the corner of the front bumper to the fender and will need to be removed.
7. inside the front door there are 2 bolts. they are connected to fender bracks and hold the fender onto the side frame of your car. you will need to open the door, use your wrench or socket, remove the upper one and the lower one. the lower one is a bit tricky since its right in the door jam and may require some patience.
8. my fender was actually rusted and just came off at this point, if your not so lucky, there are 2 final bolts underneath the car which is why i suggested raising it. they are underneath the frame, about an inch or so in from the door and connect the fender to the bottom rocker (side panel) of the car. remove those and the fender will just pull right off.
if i have forgotten to mention any bolts or you have difficulty finding them, just pull the fender off and find where its still attached and most likely there is a bolt still there. takes some patience but itll save you money doing it yourself. assembly is the exact reverse of removal.
hope this helps, happy hunting
