need to replace the coil thing, cost about £40
What does the coi pack light look like on a Renault clio
There are two common reasons. First, there may be a governor active on the vehicle which protects against an unintentional RPM over acceleration and damage. If there is no governor, then it could likely be a bad ignition coil that is causing a loss of power and an uneven firing.
I have the same problem I dont know what to do My Renault Clio 1.4 is doing this same problem and I am wondering what to do when u start the car it starts to vibrate Please help
depends which year it will either be one coil pack and four ht leads 1991 onwards or four individual coils on the top of each plug
Take it to a garage
immobilizer , this will go off after 3 seconds if immobilizer is used before turning the ignition otherwise it will flash and the car wont start
there are 4 coils each coil is mounted on top of the sparkplug,it plugs onto the top of each individual sparkplug, there is a connection at the top of the coil which must be unpluged first, then coil is pulled upwards.perhaps only one needs to be replaced but which one?i had a coil problem before, the engine did not run smoothly and the emmissions warning light came on. i rang the Renault dealer, explained the symptom, the receptionist told me the problem was with the coils,i called over they had it fixed in less than 10 minutes
The coil common fault
The car may misfire or not accelerate properly
on my 2003 1.4 16v you need to take off the grey plastic engine cover which will expose the 4 coils, each has an electical connection into the top of them. undo the 4 connectors, the pencil coils themselves are just held in by one 10mm bolt for each coil. Just undo the bolt and pull the coil upwards. Careful not to drop the bolt into the engine area.

to me it sounds like an ignition coil problem ive changed mine 3 months ago and now its playing up again try removing coil if you see one with orange powder on the bottom its most likely to be caused by rain water leaking in to that area another common Renault fault, i would replace all 4 coils but don't take it to a garrage as they will charge about £150 buy a set of 4 from eBay for around £40 and change them yourself very easy to do its just 1 bolt per coil hope this helps
