Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

To understand Sin, it is spiritual death between us and god, if we commit an sin, then we are forever separated from god. In these scripture that are pointed out, it would seem that by just calling in Jesus name will forgive us in our sins, but that is not the case. As shown in Eph 2:8, "for by grace are ye saved through faith", means that when you commit a sin, you must promise to god not to commit it again, thus true forgiveness can be bestowed on you. To forgive one's sin is an long progress, one must confess to god and to others of ones sin to be truly forgiven and then promising never to commit that sin again, then spiritual death is no longer a barrier to one's soul.
