Usually these doors whether they're metal, glass or wood have a 3/8 or 1/2 moulding at the inside perimeter of the glass holding the glass in place. This moulding will be held in place by small nails or brads, if so pry up gently with a wide blade straight screwdriver or anything slim and strong. be careful to not press up or down too vigorously so as not to make dents in the door or moulding, gentle is the deyword here! some moulding will be held in place by small screws which are sometimes hidden be vinyl hole plugs. These simply pry out to access the screw beneath. Again be gentle to avoid marring the moulding. removing the glass is best done w/two people. first!!!! have the correct size and type replacement glass at hand . after removing all the moulding (and always expect the old glass to fall out when you least expect it-not very likely but can happen) have a person outside push gently in at the top of the old glass until it pops loose then gently lean the glass in slightly to break the seal the rest of the way. Once you know the glass is free top to bottom have the person come inside and help to lay the old glass safely aside. You should have a tube of acrylic or vinyl white caulk ready. cut only a small piece off the tip at a slight angle and put a small bead of caulk all around on the inside of the door where the new glass will seat. be sure to have same type and size nails or old screws at hand. lift the glass gently and place the bottom in the opening first then lean the top in until the glass is pressed firmly into the caulk all the way around the outside perimeter. One person should now check to make sure the glass is pressed as tightly against the outside moulding as possible.(never hit the glass to make it tight or press anywhere except at the edges!!). Now comes the delicate part. put the top and bottom inside mouldings first. This will let the side pieces flex a little in case the fit is tight. Then put sides in last. If the mouldings have to be renailed in place be very careful that you put new nails in same holes and put a piece of cardboard against the glass before you nail to protect the glass in case you get a bit wild with your hammer. If it was screwed in originnaly "piece of cake " simply reinstall screws. Use a putty or flat screwdriver to remove any excess caulk on the outside and then use a wet cloth or paper towel to wipe the last vestiges of caulk outside and you're done! just think thru before you do anything, take your time and be careful!!!!

How do you replace passenger side rear door's fixed glass on a 1998 Honda Civic?

You will have to remove the rear door panel to gain access to the inside of the door. In the door there is a brace directly under the molding that separates the Fixed glass from the window. If you undo that brace the old fixed part will come out and ou can slide the new window in. It took me less than an hour to replace mine.

How do you replace the outside passenger mirror on your 1995 Nissan Sentra and is it an easy job or do you need to take your car to a mechanic?

Pull the door pannel off by removing the screw inside the inside handle where you would pull the door shut, there are some screws along the bottom of the door pannel as well as the inside latch that opens the door. pull the pannel to release the clips that are on the inside and then lift up on the pannel to release it from the window sill. take the inside cover off where the mirror is attached to the door and take out the screws for the mirror, if it has power mirrors which i believe it does unplug the wires, becarful not to break the clip. the mirror will come right off. putting the new mirror on is just as simple plug it in and pull all the screws back in, make sure you line up the top edge of the door pannel along the window sill and push down before you try to pop the clips back in, I've done this a few times due to many broken mirrors on my wifes car. its not that hard until you have to line up the door pannel clips. hope this helps, good luck.
