Replace brake pads
Thank you Captain Obvious. Can we get a real answer now? I replaced my brake pads and sensor is still lit. Trying to avoid disconnecting my battery.
The brake wear indicator is a non-reusable sensor that is installed in the brake pad. If this sensor is activated then the entire sensor must be replaced. Parts are available on-line if you are not close to a MINI dealership. After the worn sensor is replaced, you turn the key to position II without starting the car and wait for the light to reset. The sensor can be replaced without removing the caliper.
It will either be the brake wear indicator or the abs sensor Check if it goes to the brake pads it's the wear indicator If it goes to the hub it's the abs sensor
replace front brake pads
The Brake Wear Indicator Light means your brakes are malfunctioning, worn out, or low on fluid and you need to get them fixed. If the indicator is caused be worn pads, then the wear sensor has worn through and must be replaced - it's not repairable. After the problem has been corrected, reset the indicator by turning the ignition key to position #2 (just before engine start position) but do not start the engine and wait for less than 60 seconds. The on-board computer will automatically check the sensor condition and reset the indicator if no fault exists. (Note that starting the car and even driving it may not allow the indicator to reset.)
There is not a reset for the break wear indicator light on the Mercedes-Benz GL450. You will need to fix the problem before the light will go off.
Just turn the key to on (second) position - where you see all the lights come on the dashboard and wait till the brake wear indicator light go off. If you replaced the tripped brake wear sensor, the light will go off in about 10-15 seconds...
Reset b rake pads sensor ml 350 benz
Put key in ignition in the second position and open the driver door. should reset in about 10sec.(assuming that you've changed the brake pad wear sensor)
The break pad wear sensor on your BMW is mounted on a front drivers side brake pad and will display a light on your active check control panel when your pads need to be replaced.
use a pad wear indicator :)
Only two things will cause this light to appear on the cluster- 1) low brake fluid or 2) brake pad wear indicator was tripped due to the sensor loop going to ground. **this will also trigger a message on the cluster information screen saying "check brake pads". if this is the case and you are replacing the pads by yourself, be sure to buy a new wear indicator because some pads (like HAWK) do not come with a new set. another option is to simply splice the two wires in that go to the sensor and essentially close the loop back up and tuck it out of the way. the wear indicator is on the drivers side (US market) front caliper- ~T
Replace the brake sensor then the message will go away. When you saw the message the sensor is already bad so it need to be replaced along with the brake pads. You don't need to replace front and rear sensors at the same time. Any of them has the pads wearing too much (usually in the rear because Mercedes cars drive by the rear), that where the sensor need to be replaced. There is no electronic reset for brake pad wear message.
