As part of a plea bargain Spiro T. Agnew was forced to resign the Vice Presidency. Richard Nixon nominated Michigan representative Gerald Ford to replace him. On November 27th, 1973 Ford was confirmed by the House as the new Vice President by a vote of 387 to 35.
