Lynyrd Skynyrd is a band, not a person. They named their band Lynyrd Skynyrd after their high school gym teacher, Leonard Skinner. Nobody in the band is actually named Lynyrd Skynyrd. At the time, the band had 10 on-stage members: Ronnie Van Zant, Cassie Gaines, Steve Gaines, Artimus Pyle, Billy Powell, Leon Wilkeson, Allen Collins, Leslie Hawkins, Gary Rossington, and Jo Jo Billingsley. Hi, all I know is that most of the Lynard Skynard was touring and they were in a plane and the engine gave out so they died in a plane crash but some of the band members I know the drummer didn't go on the plane so he got some friends together and started up Lynard Skynard again. I do not know when though
