never turn and walk away to avoid giving a hand salute One important army custom is the salute. There are strict rules for who must or must not salute. Soldiers must salute senior officers unless their hands are occupied in work that would make a salute impossible. If a soldier is imprisoned, he loses the right to salute. Another custom is the playing of the Army Song at various parades and ceremonies.
A soldier who is physically unable to salute with his or her right hand may render a salute with the left hand.

It does matter in which county you are. What I know is; Some places in Belgium they do. In the US Military, you are authorized to salute with your left hand when: You are a band major You are opening the door for a dignitary, with your right hand (i.e the U.S. President) Your right hand/arm is injured Rifle salute, it is a salute done while performing rifle manual movements
The salute is made with the right hand over the heart, the standard civil, not military, flag salute.
It depends who you are.
Assume your post and present the command is the directive given by the host commander after the hand salute is executed and reports sir the colors are present. The hand salute is done with the right hand.

"While rendering the salute to the Texas Flag, a person should stand erect, face the Texas Flag and hold their right hand over the heart." I think it has been changed, it "used" to be that you face the Texas flag and hold you hand out to where you elbo is at your side and our hand is out.
