Associationism is a school of psychology dating back to Aristotle and Plato. Its main principle is that thoughts and thought processes are always associated with other thoughts and thought processes and don't originate independently.
Some successful proponents of psychology include Sigmund Freud, known for his work on psychoanalytic theory; B.F. Skinner, who developed behaviorism; Carl Rogers, a key figure in humanistic psychology; and Jean Piaget, who revolutionized the field of developmental psychology. These psychologists made significant contributions to understanding human behavior and mental processes.
The early school of psychology that proposed that consciousness was made up of two types of elements, sensations and thoughts, was Gestalt Psychology. Gestalt Psychology was developed in Berlin, Germany, and was centered on the principle that the mind forms a global whole with self-organizing tendencies.
Evolutionary psychology with an emphasis on physiological psychology
Some of the prominent proponents of certain schools of thought include Sigmund Freud for psychoanalysis, B.F. Skinner for behaviorism, Jean Piaget for cognitive development theory, and Albert Bandura for social learning theory. Suggestions for specific schools of thought can vary based on the field or discipline being considered.
