A RAM stick, if you were able to look inside it, is arranged like a spreadsheet. 8 columns across and millions of rows. The reason it is 8 across is because data is sent 8 bits at a time...programs are placed in memory first come first serve. In the old days (1990), there was High-Memory and Low-Memory but that is no longer the case..hope this helps,
a section of ram where the computer stores copied data
RAM
Downloading means a computer data file is being copied to your hard drive, from the internet.
One might need remote data backup software to ensure files are copied and accessed when the user is away from the main computer or drive. Remote data backup software copies and stores data in alternate locations, such as cloud storage.

RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It is a temporary computer storage device, i.e. all data stored in RAM will be erased after the computer is switched off. All data to be processed is first copied into RAM. For example, when you start an application it is copied into the RAM from your harddisk. Similarly, if you enter any data into the computer it is sent to the RAM.
