A Google search of "John Jacob Astor" turned up over 200,000 hits. (Be forewarned, however, that a person by the same name was on the Titanic, and might have been a descendant of the original Astor.) Any respectable book about the fur trade, especially the Canadian fur trade, will likely include references to Astor.
