Because the electric charge depends on the mass times the radius of a particle and whereas the mass of the proton is 1836 heavier than the mass of the electron, the radus of the proton is 1836 times smaller. Thus the product of mass times radius is in both paticles the same and therefore they have the same charge. Boy Boer

proton is conten quarkes particals, and the vlaue of quarkes of proton is less than quarkes partical of electron, but contain most partical in it reather than electron . in this condition some particals are decy from proton to electron and nutron.

Protons are made up of smaller particles, called quarks. A proton is made up of two up quarks and a down quark. There are no known particles that make up electrons. (A current theory is that both electrons and quarks are made up of tiny "strings of energy"; this is string theory).

As far as why the 3 quarks are more massive that the one electron, scientists are stilling working on what exactly gives particles their mass, so we don't quite know. We just know that quarks are more massive than electrons.

How many times lighter is an electron than a proton?

The mass of an electron is approximately 1⁄1836 of a proton. Thus as hydrogen is made of one proton and one electron, hydrogen is 1837 times heavier than an electron.

Which has a greater mass an electron or a proton?

In kilograms, an electron's mass is ~9 x 10^(-31). A proton's mass is ~1.7 x 10^(-27). The mass of the proton is more than 1000 times of an electron.

Do protons and Electrons have about the same mass?

No. Protons have about 1836 times the mass of an electron.

Is it true or false that the proton and the electron have similar masses but opposite electrical charges?

False. A proton is about 2000 times heavier than an electron.

How many times is proton heavier than electron?

The ratio of a proton's rest mass to an electron's rest mass is 1836.15267247:1. For more information, follow the link below.

A proton is heavier than an electron. MASS(kg): Proton - 1.67 × 10-27kg Neutron - 1.67 × 10-27kg Electron - 9.11 × 10-31 kg *A neutron is about .1% heavier than a proton.

An electron has a greater mass than a proton?

the mass of an electron is actually about 1800 times lessthan a proton.

Is the mass of an electron greater then the mass of a proton?

No. A proton is many times more massive than an electron.
