Save all contacts on the sim. In your case - go buy an extra sim to store the phone info and phone numbers or download info to your computer for saving. If phone is lost or stolen - there goes your sim too. I think sprint will backup your phone book for a fee.. I don't know about the others.
Good question here . Think about the users that are neophyte and lose their phones.
My son bought a van that had a cingular cell phone with a speaker phone discarded in the boot. I put my sim in it, and a battery, and I now have a speaker phone.
There are also a number of websites that will allow you to backup to the 'cloud'. These are network and phone independent and if your phone is lost or destroyed your contacts are safe and can be downloaded to your new phone.
