Dexcool mixed with 50% distilled water.
SEE DEXCOOL CLASSACTION SUIT" I would NOT use it.......$$$$. I HAVE SEEN THE GUNK & BLOWN HEADGASKETS................................$$$$$$$$$$
A 1996 Pontiac Sunfire uses Dexcool coolant. This should only be mixed with distilled water, never tap water. Replace the coolant every 2 years or as needed.
The 2001 leasable is designed to use Dexcool type antifreeze. Dexcool is not compatible with other coolant types, the cannot be mixed.
Generally, you should have about a 50/50 (%) mixed of antifreeze and distilled water. GM recommends using Dexcool antifreeze. I would recommend that you use whatever antifreeze that is in there now and stick with the 50/50 mix. Take Care, Greg Also take care that if your van came with Dexcool (red in color) DO NOT add normal anti-freeze (green) to it. The Dexcool is lifetime antifreeze, and it will GEL if you add normall to it and bye bye engine. If it's red top up with Dexcool, or flush and refill with normal. Regards Brash911
because.................. it should be mixed !
The 1997 Saturn used dexcool antifreeze. The chemical compounds are different and should never be mixed, as the engine will no longer cool properly.
The answer is no. any regular or universal antifreeze will gum up and ruin your entire cooling system when it is mixed with dexcool. If you want to use any green coolant you will need to drain and flush your your system first.

Dexcool
It came with "Dex Cool" in it originally. (Red colored fluid). This antifreeze is responsible for softening the seals and causing intake gasket leaks on small block GM vehicles. Flush the dex-cool out as best you can and refill it with antifreeze that is designed to be mixed with either type of coolant. Mixing regular antifreeze with Dexcool unless it states on the container that it is intended to be mixed with it will cause the Dexcool to turn to jello and will plug up your system. Dexcool should be removed and flushed out COMPLETELY before adding any other type of antifreeze.
It uses Dexcool.
