You should buy them online from a trustful source. This would be a better idea because they are alot cheaper then they would be in a repair shop. If you have never shopped online, then a repair shop would probably be a better idea.
Depending on your vehicle, how much of the work you do yourself, and the type of shocks and struts you buy, it can cost about 250 to about 800 dollars. This price also varies depending on the area where you live.
There are several places that one can buy shocks and struts, including Firestone, Pep Boys, Autozone, and any other place that sells auto parts and equipment.
the 2000 ford focus has struts on the front. you can buy the strut/spring assembly for about 250 a pair online.
I have a 2000 eclipse and my suspension is bad. My car bounces a lot over every bump. I know it's my shocks that are bad. I went online to buy some but I keep finding struts and single shocks. I'm confused on what to get because my car has springs in its suspension and I noticed that all the struts ive seen online don't. I just need help finding what to buy basically.
Buy the quick struts from Strut Masters, you'll be glad you did. There are relays that come with the struts to bypass the suspension system and cause the MIL to appear on the dash. THese are the best struts around with life time warranty. They will feel stiff at first, but soon will give you the ride you're used to in your cadillac. The rear struts are air and available through monroe dealers or online. Shop around for the best prices.
if doing yourself just buy quick struts for the car if they make them for that model they cost more but they save a lot of time gas charged struts are junk
There are shocks on the rear that can both be changed in about 1 hour. The front has struts that will take maybe 2 hours to change if you buy the compete assemble which includes spring, strut, and mounts. If you are only replacing the strut I recommend you have this done by a professional as it can be very dangerous.
Ask a trusted mechanic.
No, they are different sizes/ part numbers.
Coil spring boosters are only for coil springs, NOT those found on struts. Struts are engineered to function in only their original configuration and should not be modified. Look into finding new struts that will fit your application.
are you buying cheap shocks , such as lifetime warranty shocks either buy good shocks or genuine GMC shocks
I shouldn't. But if you want to it's ok. Just have a mechanic check it out first.
