Jesse and Finn got into a big fight later during the Prom leading to both being kicked out of the Prom - the altercation started after both Quinn & Finn were dancing and Rachel & Jesse - it started after Jesse leaned in to kiss Rachel's neck. Finn "broke" the two apart and began fighting with Jesse - and later that same night Quinn slapped Rachel across the face in the bathroom - the two of them continued talking in the bathroom as Quinn and Rachel had both had a very dramatic night. Why did Jesse leave Rachel?
Jesse left Rachel for some fairly laughable reasons. She created a music video of the same song with three different boys (Puck, Finn, and Jesse) playing her love interest and then spliced them together. Jesse, for some reason, found this to be an incredible betrayal and not only broke up with her, but became rather antagonistic afterward. That is the reason given in the plot. The real reason probably stems from the fact that Rachel's relationship with Jesse was never meant to be a long lasting thing as the culmination of the season puts her and Finn together, something the plot has been driving towards all season.
