Sure any frosting works, you can add a teeny bit of food coloring to change color or a teeny weeny bit of orange extract etc, careful with using extracts.
chocolate frosting
Compromise! The cake and filling can be chocolate while the frosting can be white vanilla snow cone.
It can be either. It can also be a paste or gel. Liquid formulations are more commonly available. Powdered vanilla extract, though harder to find in stores, is used when trying to avoid increasing the moisture content of the mixture, such as in cake frosting. Powdered vanilla also tends to be whiter and does not discolor white or pale-colored frostings in a way that liquid (brown) vanilla extract does.
I have used rum extract, almond extract, anise extract, and a bit of whiskey or vodka, or nothing at all, in place of vanilla in many different recipes including frosting. All without substantially causing a failure in the recipe. [The peppermint frosting went on chocolate cupcakes.] The vanilla is only to give the frosting a flavor other than just bland. Experiment at will.
A simple vanilla or yellow / white cake will taste the best, as it will not over-power the fun icing at all.
I would rather be covered in head to toe in cake frosting but not just any cake frosting I want to be covered in vanilla frosting my favorite yum!
well chocolate frosting or vanilla frosting will work but if you really want something new, try strawberryfrosting. It is soooo AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
Chocolate frosting is always a classic and will go great with coffee cakes. My advice is that the simpler your frosting it is, the more extravagant and elegant it will look on your coffee cake.
Though it was seldom Elvis did like cupcakes. He stuck to the basics being chocolate cake with vanilla bean frosting and/or vanilla cake with hershey's chocolate whipped frosting.
Chocolate! I mean half of the world loves chocolate cake. I like white vanilla cake. White cake with white or pink or any colored frosting! But yeah it's chocolate cake that's more popular.
Sure! You don't necessarily have to match strawberry cake with strawberry icing, or vanilla cake with white icing. Differences can be lovely, such as chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting or yellow cake with lemon frosting.
Yes, that's my favorite kind.
Cake frosting is an icing that goes on the outside of a cake (or multiple cakes) as decoration. It is usually made up of mostly sugar, and can be flavored (vanilla and chocolate are most popular).
