yes it's a natural instinct
In general, veterinarians advise not allowing dogs to lick their wounds for two reasons. First, dogs have numerous bacteria in their mouths which can be transferred to a wound, setting up an infection that will make the wound worse. Second, chronic stimulation of a wound disrupts the healing process and can inflame the nerves, resulting in the wound never healing.
No it can't!
__IT DEFF CAN ! i purposly pick my scabs so that my dog licks it.. feals great. plus i think he looks forward to it, you know- like hes truly part of the pack, healing his caretakers. anyways, iv been doing this for ten years now, and i can tell you 100% without a doubt heals it much faster.. thats not to say i didnt pick up some unknown foreign bacteria aswell but hey, im alive enough to write this for ya
No. It can cause an infection.
whoever wrote that is incorrect, iv been letting my dog lick my scabs for ten years now.(not the same scabs for ten years, new ones have come and gone, otherwise that would be a serious infection) anyways, i can tell you without a doubt it makes it heal faster, and it feels awesome. thats not to say i didnt pick up some unknown foreign bacteria aswel but hey its nothing you couldnt have picked up sitting on the bus anyways. plus any healthy human beings immune system can defend against what a small little dog could be carrying around with him.
No because that could prevent the wound from heeling. It's best to stop the dog from licking the wound.
No a dog should not lick YOUR wounds because there saliva is bad for you.
In the wild, that is what wolves do, it is their instinct so it shouldn't be too bad.
dogs should like their own wound because it heals the wound quicker then when they dont
yes it's a natural instinct
Yes their saliva has antiseptic in it
dogs heal your wounds
Its as bad for a dog to lick human spit as it is for us to lick dog spit. So the answer is YESSSSS, iIT IS BAD FOR A DOG TO LICK HUMAN SPIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah
I am an avid dog lover, but this idea is a very dangerous one to promote. While there may be some evidence that dog saliva contains enzymes that promote healing in some cases, there are also real possibilities of being seriously and badly infected by dog saliva. Love your dogs like crazy and take care of them, but don't let them lick your wounds. Standard care of your wounds will work fine, and any possible benefits from dog saliva are NOT WORTH THE RISK of very serious infections that you might inadvertently get from your furry buddy.
I think this is an opportunity for some education in basic hygiene: Letting a dog lick your wounds? Now just WHERE has that tongue been? Think about it: dog goes to the toilet and then later dog washes itself using its tongue to clean its genitals.
yes, but why would you want to know that?
It's an interesting question, so let's start with why they lick their own wounds first. First of all, a dog's saliva is very clean, as compared to a humans. And of course, their saliva contains enzymes, etc. which aid a dog in both cleaning their wounds and to promote healing. The second reason is most likely, instinct. After all, they lick their wounds, so why not yours, and for the same reason, just as a mother dog would lick the wounds of one of her pups, should it get injured. It's strange, but after a period of time, you realize that the dog isn't as much your pet, as you're theirs. That's where the training begins, and you've got a lot to learn. Don't worry though, it won't be long before you're properly trained. Seriously though, I wouldn't encourage a dog to lick your wounds, but I wouldn't yell at it for doing so. Just a simple pushing away at the muzzle and a gentle, "No" should be enough. Chalk it up to praternal/maternal instinct. Our canine friends are a devoted species, and they too feel that they must take care of their human pets.
they seem exhausted and are afraid to go around each other then the one who attacked the other one wants to lick the others wounds !
Dogs like to lick many things. Sometimes this includes different various human body parts including the face and other areas.
Dogs lick their wound cause of the pain. For example my dog can't walk he Has a wound. It's so far back he can't lick His wound. My other dog can walk and does Not have a wound. She licks his wound. When Dogs have wounds because of a bad accident. Some dogs believe licking makes them feel better And they believe it helps them heal sinner or Later. From hhhopal
