Anyone should be a politician as long as they feel that that is what God wants them to do and if that person stands for what is right and try to make good changes in that certain community
People will have different opinions about this, but ultimately the voters will decide. In my opinion, if a politician has a pending court case, it would be better to have the case settled, and depending on the outcome and what the case was, run at a later date.
It should not be, but very few admitted agnostics or athiests have ever been elected to any meaningful office. So, you may need to lie about it in order to get elected. Profess a religious belief of some sort and make like you're holy...not that any politician has ever done THAT, of course...
