Am I too young for a laptop?

Sure ...why not? As long as you can afford it and make sure that your son/daughter doesn't become obsessed with texting/Facebook etc. And make some certain rules like for example, I'm eleven my self I have a smartphone and my parents make me do chores everyday, and I have to have only a's and b's at school, and have good behavior. So make like a contract it really does come in handy . Oh, and if u don't want them to get in any certain pages on the internet, you can block them. And there's also a gps thing where you can always know where they are. So all that really does come in handy a lot as they get older, but remember its up to YOU and ur rules. And btw a lot of kids now a days have smartphones computers etc. So also if u decide for ur child to have one, make sure they don't use it during school or show it off because a lot of people do steal stuff . So make sure they use it at a proper time and take care of it. I'm guessing ur child is in middle school, so most of these things do occur. Hope I helped(: good luck:D

With restricted internet access (Try K9 software) and alert supervision, an 11 year old could happily use a laptop. Just make sure that they are not using an administrator account, and that the parent or guardian is the one who installs the programs and sets the limits.

Yes, an 11 year old should be able to have an iPad. I think that an 11 year old should have one. On Wikipedia, it says that most 11 year olds have an iPad. For some 11 year olds, the iPad 2 is better. They start from $499. A 16gb or 32gb is perfect for an 11 year old. You can choose from white or black, and getting it with Wi-Fi is better too. But Wi-Fi and 3g is not good for an 11 year old. The child should pay for most of it, but even the parents or guardian should pay for some of it.

I think that an 11 year old should have an iPad. I believe that every single 11 year old should get an iPad. I think that one could raise money, and the parent could pay for 10 percent of it. A 16gb would be nice, but the iPad 2 is better, and the 16gb is good enough. All you parents out there, let your 11 year old get an iPad!! Well, that's what I think.

While this is something that you must work out with your own family, I can offer questions to ask yourself or parents can ask to see if someone is old enough for a laptop.

1. Responsibility - Is the person in question able to take care of a laptop, treat it well, and not lose it? Will they let the laptop get in the way of other things such as school work, household chores, etc?

2. Maturity - Will they use the laptop for wholesome endeavors? Or will they use it to harass classmates and neighbors, bully people, spread malicious gossip, etc? Will they go on message boards as a troll, start flame wars, and annoy people?

3. Personal safety - If they have a laptop, will they take it into bad parts of town where this may make them a target for being robbed? Will they contact anyone online who will want to meet them? If someone online wants to meet them, will they tell their parents? Will they use the computer to invite someone to the house or to solicit products or services? Do they know what information not to give out online? Do they know how to react to spam emails, particularly those claiming they won millions or that someone wants to give them a pile of money if they just give out their personal information?

4. The law - If they are under 13, do they know that they cannot sign up for websites without their parents? Will they break other laws while online? For instance, a lot of kids like to do "sexting" these days. As of now, that is considered "manufacturing child pornography," even if the "manufacturer" could also be considered the victim. Plus there are other possible situations where a child could run afoul of the law with a computer. From time to time, there are groups of teens who conspire to commit murder online.
