It depends on the job. If a producer wants to produce a play about Lincoln he should have the right to chose a man who is six feet four inches tall who is willing to grow his beard a certain way. For other jobs, a company may require a dress code. The company's research may have shown that customers feel more comfortable around people dressed a certain way. One tire store hired some frumpy looking sales people in one of its units. Its business died. It kept that research available. Companies are in business to make money. In other positions, dress may not be as important. Still, safety is always important.

If you truly mean 'backwards' as in left in first instead of right, the image will also be backwards. So, just turn the photo around and it will be right. In effect, you won't know the difference. If you mean up-side-down, then the image will be a mirror image of what it should have been. I.e. the left and right will be reversed.
