Is the paying of taxes democratic?

I don't think there is any question that NO ONE likes and actually supports paying taxes. But all taxes are passed into law by democratically elected officials, using the Democratic process. So, the people have apparently democratically decided they want what the taxes provide. All governments tax, and always have. In a non-democratic one, the people have little of no say as to what the tax is for, how much it should be, etc.

Who decided how much tax you should pay and on what?

The elected legislatures of the Federal, State and local governments.

Many people think governments should make regulations to reduce the effects of global warming. Governments are elected to govern, and that often means making hard, long-term decisions that are not always popular.

Barack Obama should be president because?

Because he was legally and democratically elected twice, in 2008 and 2012; he received the most popular votes, and more than the required number of electoral votes. Of course, not everyone is happy with the results of every election, but President Obama was the person chosen by the voters and then re-elected, so a majority of Americans believed he should be the president.

Are all Muslim men like Barack Obama abusive towards women or is it mostly a black phenomenon?

Barack Obama is not a Muslim. Furthermore, there is nothing in tangible evidence nor in my intuition and a thinking, feeling, perceptive human that would imply that such a man, who cares in sentiment and action for the American people in need more so than any Commander-in-Chief of our time, is abusive towards women. I feel sad for the author of this question in his or her simplistic ways. It is not healthy nor intellectually sound to exist with such ignorant, racist sentiments. Not is it healthy or spiritually sound to harbor such hatred for any group of people or individual, especially when that individually is our democratically elected president of our United States. ==Or...== Perhaps the author of this question was focusing more on the way Muslim women are treated in general and/or the phenomenon of abuse among black men, rather than Barack Obama, per se. However, with respect to "hatred" for "our democratically elected president of our United States," rather than bemoaning how Barack Obama is treated, perhaps we should all recall how President Bush, our previous "democratically elected President," was treated and commit to treat all of our democratically elected Presidents with the respect the office deserves. Trashing an individual just because you disagree with his or her politics is just plain wrong...irrespective of which party you support.
