It would probably be better to bring an adult dog over for a visit and let the person pat and play with the dog for a while. A puppy needs a lot of attention, and having a puppy might not be good for either of them.

∙ 10y agoIt depends on the person. Some people are so depressed that they cannot care for themselves or a pet properly, but most people do find that having a pet gives them something to do and a reason to live. Pets have been shown to have positive effects on people.
