I think so because high school students need nine hours of sleep and most of them are not getting it. They need to sleep from 11pm to 8am each night for optimal functioning and performance. They follow this schedule due to the timing of the secretion of a natural biological hormone called melatonin, not because they are lazy or contrary.
It is always nice to get out of school somewhat early in the afternoon, because then you have the rest of the day to enjoy yourself. However, getting out early means you had to get up early to fit all of your academic hours in. In high school, students are in a time of adolesence, resulting in different sleeping patterns. Melatonin, the sleeping hormone, is not released until later in the night than adults and young children- it is released at about 10 or 11 PM. High school students aren't fully awake until they have slept until at least 8 AM. In fact, teens are sometimes at their most awake point in the entire day at 10 PM.
Frankly, young people are far more adaptable than they believe themselves to be. Adaptable in positive as well as negative directions. Consider that if start times were adjusted for later in the morning, eventually that also would become too early for many students and they would advocate for even later start times. The reality is that most school start times are already adjusted for the best possible times for their communities. If anything, schools could perhaps start a bit earlier, and the day could run a bit later, providing for more convenience for parents and guardians.
That primary purpose is even more primary as relates to colleges and universities where preparation for employment is even less remote. College students must learn quickly to balance the blaring call of social interaction with the true reason for their education. This has been a constant issue, considering the high drop rate of new freshmen at most colleges and universities; some being as high as 75%. Too much partying often equates to the end of higher education for many young people. Were they forced to attend primarily morning classes, quite likely, they would be forced to realize quickly the vast landscape that exists between what they want and what they need.
No, all schools should have early start times, regardless of the plaintive whining of most young people. They should be encouraged toward responsible behavior.
So we can have time to get ready in the mornings without being in such a hurry!!
no. because it takes the day time away from kids and teens that they need at this age
Yes. They really should so they can be ready and alert for school and NOT tired, drowsy and yawn for the rest of the day.
depends on the school. usually b/t 7-8am
No
Research has shown that teenagers require more sleep due to changes in their circadian rhythm. Starting the school day later could allow students to get the recommended amount of sleep, potentially improving their academic performance, mental health, and overall well-being. However, this change would need to be carefully considered in terms of scheduling, transportation, and impact on extracurricular activities.
You should start with English.
I think high school should start at the earliest 8:30am. Teenagers who have had enough sleep are readier to learn; they are more alert, more responsible, and have a better attitude.
Consider nursing school for a start.
After high school (if you start college right away) it should take about 4 years to become a physical therapist.

There are some colleges that have programs for high school students. Some may be referred to as Head Start, or Bridge programs. However, there are specific entrance requirements. You should check with the guidance office at the school you are attending for possible options.
