He is trying to play hard to get with you, to try and keep you interested. If it is annoying you, then turn the tables and stop texting him, and maybe don't respond to SOME (this means not all; if you stop texting altogether, you may not interest him enough, and he may dump you) of his messages. That way, you will be playing hard to get with him.
But, if you don't mind it, then play along, and keep sending him messages.
Or, he could just be a thick boy, and can't be bothered to send you messages. You know him best. You judge which on of these answers is the most likely
