No you shouldn't you should keep training him it takes time to be potty trained
Spanking for that wont make him potty trained or make him understand. He's too little for that. Every time he goes on the potty you reward him with a song or dancing or something, make it positive. When he goes in the diaper you you just goe "OK that's OK too" so he doesn't feel he did something wrong. It's really easy to give a child issues when it comes to these things. Spanking in general doesn't work. Just ask ppl who got spanked - they sure got it more then once which means it didn't work, just caused fear. Taking things away they don't like is better. A small child understands time out but needs time to learn that too. Spanking is like the easy way out that leads nowhere.
