Should kids under 13 have cell phones?

• Yes because those are the beginning years of a soon to be very socializing teenager.

• As a Father I would disagree with the above answer she can socialize at school. If she wants a cell phone get her one that can call you and emergency numbers only. Anyone else she wants to talk to she can use your household phone.

I am a 12 year old girl and i think you should get your daughter a phone. Maybe a simple slide if she wants to text, Basic phones kinda suck. So get her a cheap Virgin mobile slide for like 40 bucks and unlimited web, text and 300 min for 25 bucks a month. pretty good deal.

I am 13 and i agree with you! Maybe get AA older model of a popular phone, such as the iPhone 3GS wich is free on a 3 yr contract. Teens need to socialize :D lol

I am a mother of 3 12 year old girl triplets. They like to go swimming alot and need to contact me when they want to go swimming. They need to keep in touch with friends and one of them has a boyfriend whom she texts. I tell them they can only send 200 text messages a month so they are VERY limited. I myself, send around 450 a month and it does me well. So yes, they should.

I believe that they should have cell phones because they need to contact you. If your child is lost somewhere they need to contact you somehow. Or if your a child playing outside but your parents don't know were you are or where your going with your friends. They should have a cell phones so they can contact their parents. but first they have to aSK SO tHEy can have one yes they can have one so there good!

I think it has to do with the parents. If they said yes then yes. No then no. But i think it is an ok decision because the 13 yr old is probably in middle skool so it if a good choice to know where ur child is. So yes.

YES kids should have one. I am under 13 and really want one, to talk to friends, to call my parents after school. What ever.

A 13 year old could buy a phone, but won't be able to sign a service agreement because to do that you have to be 18 years old.

However you can buy a phone and not sing the agreement.
