if it's not broke, don't fix it
NOT TRUE!! I just spent $2000 to repair the damage to the engine caused by a broken timing belt while driving on the freeway. Had I replaced the belt before it needed to be (at least every 100k miles) I would have paid about $200. Preventive maintenance is always better than emergency maintenance
the above is true. just had one bust on my 2002 quest. don't forget to replace the water pump while you're at it being you already have it off. waiting on this too can have you stranded.
before the belt broke it showed no signs and gave no warning . we were lucky the belt broke and did no other damage, ive heard some nissans other than the quests can drop the valves onto the pistons cause serve damage
At 90Kmiles
2004 Nissan sentra with a 1.8L engine has a timing chain and you do not replace it.
U should replace them at 100 thous to be safe
change should be made at 75,000 miles
how do I replace timming chain on my nissan np 300 ka 20 motor
no. it has a chain not belt. it should last as long as the car.
how do you replace a timimng chain on a 2001 Nissan Sentra?????
A 2000 Nissan Sentra GXE with the 1.8L engine has a timing chain, not a belt. There is no specific recommendation as to when to replace the timing chain. In most cases, chain-driven vehicles can go for well over 150,000 miles before the timing components are in need of replacement.
100,000 km.
To my knowledge the Nissan Quest does not use a timing chain, it uses a timing belt, with a replacement interval of 105,000 miles.
The 1995 Nissan Maxima has a timing chain, not a timing belt. If the shop is telling you that you need to replace the engine's timing belt, time to find a different mechanic!
you should never have to replace the chain. not impossible but rare that this has to ever be replaced. if it is a 2000 to 2003 model with a 3.3l v6 it has a timing belt which needs to be replaced every 105000 miles.
