All students are (just) students. By US laws, children are required to attend school. There are no "regular" students, nor "other types". Whether slow learners or disabled, all students have a right to be at school and be included in all of the school's activities.
Even when older, in reference to technical schools and colleges in the US, the only definition of a "regular student" is (generally speaking), "A regular student is someone who is enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an eligible institution for the purpose of obtaining a degree or certificate offered by the school." The only differentiation, beginning in the 1980s, was that of the older "non-traditional" student who often worked, lived at home, and had families. So a woman might bring her minor child to class with her if the child did not disrupt the classroom. IF there are any "other types" in higher education, each institution would have its own definition of "non-regular" students.
