Is paint an acid or a base?

Paint stripper is an acid. Paint strippers work by penetrating the layers of the paint and the object that the paint is on. There are many types of chemicals used in paint strippers most of which are acidic.

How do you get paint out of jeans?

Try a little paint stripper or "goof off" in an inconspicuous spot to see if it causes problems. If it seems to be ok, apply a little to the paint spot, let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then use a stiff brush to loosen the paint. Rinse out the jeans and run them through a wash using normal soap and with nothing else in the washer. Paint stripper won't work if the surface is wet, so if that didn't take out all of the paint you might need to go through the process again after you've dried the jeans. BTW, DO NOT wear the jeans if you have applied paint stripper and haven't washed them. Paint stripper, even WEAK paint stripper can cause problems for you.

What product functions as a paint stripper?

Citristrip and Acetone are common paint strippers. Methylene Chloride is the active ingredient of most pain strippers. Paint strippers work by dissolving and softening up the paint causing it to swell and bubble up allowing the paint to be removed.

How do you remove exterior paint from your interior walls?

Use a citrus based stripper that will cling to the wall and allow it to work overnight. However, an easier option would be to paint directly over the exterior paint with a good quality interior latex paint.

What is the best way to paint a hardwood floor?

There are a couple of ways to remove paint from furniture, but the easiest and less time consuming is paint stripper/ remover. Just remember to wear latex gloves and eye protection. If these products can dissolve paint just think what they could do to your eyes and skin. Here is how I strip paint, varnish, polyurethane or nearly anything else from wood surfaces. First, go to your local home store and pick up the following items you will need for stripping paint from furniture. 1. A can of paint stripper. Look, or ask for the gel type of stripper. It tends to stick to the furniture much better than the liquid type. 2. You will need lots and lots of rags so just buy one of the small bags or boxes your home store carries. 3. A stiff plastic putty knife approximately 2 inches wide for scraping the stipper off. 4. A small disposable paint brush for spreading the stripper. Be sure to give yourself plenty of space for working on your project with a lot of newspapers underneath to catch the excess stripper. The biggest mistake people make when stripping furniture is not giving the stripper enough time to work effectively. After you apply a good, heavy coat of paint stripper leave the project alone for at least 30 minutes. You'll know if the right amount of time has passed because to paint will come right off. If not, and because you lost patience, then it can become a nightmare. Two basic things to remember: patients and lots of stripper.

How do you remove paint from molding?

It is often easier to remove old paint from molding and trim when they have been removed, making them easier to work with. Removed or not the method is the same. Apply a heavy coat of paint stripper to the surfaces in question and allow enough time for the stripper to break down the old paint. The most common mistake people make when using paint stripper is not giving it enough time to work or not using enough of the product. To make any paint stripping job easier I apply the first coat and wait for 20 or 30 minutes. Then, for good measure, I apply a second coat of stripper which usually loosens any remaining old paint. Once all the old paint has been loosened by the stripper use a plastic putty knife to remove the paint and leftover stripper. Metal scrapers or putty knives will leave deep gouges in the molding, trim or whatever you might be scraping. In my experience the gel strippers work the best, are easier to clean up and don't make too much of a mess. After those two steps are complete use a 60 or 80 grit sand paper for the initial sanding then 120 grit or finer for a nice smooth surface. When all is said and done the smoother the surface the better your project will look upon completion. Also, be sure to wear rubber gloves when applying and scraping the stripper, as it is pretty caustic stuff.

I wanna become a stripper. should I do it?

To decide if you should become a stripper, decide whether you're fit enough for the job since dancing for a living can be physically taxing. Think about if you can manage your schedule around the work hours, as you'll have to work nights and at first, you might have to work every night to break even.
