I wouldn't go as far as quit offering them, but there needs to be a lowering of emphasis on them, especially with sports. The priority is academics. Playing football in high school and college is not going to teach you how to manage your money when you go pro. There needs to be extracurricular activities though. Studies have shown that students stay out of trouble and do better in their classes when they have those kinds of activities to do.
