If the pilot light is on, the heater should come on by itself. If the pilot light is off then it has to be lit. If it will not stay on, the thermocouple is bad.
There is not an alternator indicator light on a Honda Pilot. If the alternator goes out, the battery will not stay charged.
Turn the knob on the top of the gas valve to "Pilot" and hold it down. Put your match or lighter near the pilot and it should light. Continue holding the knob down for about 30 seconds then release, and the pilot should stay lit. If it goes out then you may need to replace the thermocouple (the gold color rod that the pilot flame burns on) or have the pilot cleaned if it has a yellow flame.
yes I can get the pilot to stay lit
If it will not lite at all, copper pilot line kinked,,, bad gas valve, if you have the button on pilot and depressed down all the way. Will light but not stay lite, bad thermocouple.
It is called a pilot light.
They're kind of like a pilot light for the engine.
Spillage , bad thermocouple
Make sure gas is on and shut offs are open Turn gas valve to PILOT position Push knob down and light pilot HOLD knob down for aprox. 30sec-1min Slowly release knob Pilot should stay light (if not troubleshoot) Turn know to ON position Adjust thermostat to desired position
No reason why it shouldn't. You will find a black dial for the temperature settings, to light the pilot light, there will be pilot light start setting, press the black dial in and hold it, light the pilot light and hold the dial down for about 10 seconds. The light should stay lit, once it does turn the black dial to the desired teperature setting.
