However, the Church can and should give spiritual guidance to its membership so that they can make correct moral choices when it comes to elections and certain political issues such as abortion, homosexual marriage, stem cell research, and so forth. Unfortunately, most priests and bishops no longer give any spiritual guidance and prefer to avoid any issue that they see as even a little controversial. They are failures as shepherds.
