In my opinion, yes, because then you are catering to more types of lifestyle/dietary restrictions.
There is a lot that can be put on a vegetarian salad. Veggies, fruit, nuts, beans, croutons, oil, vinegar, certain dressings, and - depending on the type of vegetarian - cheese and hardboiled eggs.
Can they? Yes. Should they? No. Canned foods are very high in sodium and are processed. Everyone should stick to fresh food if they have the option.

To my knowledge, there are no Caribbean medical schools in the US. However, there are American medical schools in the Caribbean. Perhaps this might be an acceptable option for you.
