Should students be allowed to bring cellphones to school?

Opinions are divided.

I personally don't see anything wrong with them havingthem at school, though I do feel they should not be allowed to use them in school outside of break periods (lunch or possibly between classes), bona fide emergencies ("We're being evacuated because the school is on fire, I need someone to come pick me up"), or with the express knowledge and consent of a teacher or administrator ("Hey mom, I left my homework on the counter and Mr. Garrison told me to call and see if you could bring it to me").

No. Most teachers will take it away and will ask the parent to claim it afterschool. If Teens and children did not abuse the phones by texting in class it would be fine to have cell phones in school

Yes, they should. It is a major safety thing, where if a kid is out of contact with other kids and a teacher and just happened to be immobile, the cell phone would be the only thing a kid could do besides scream at the top of their lungs. If a kid was separated from the rest of the class and away from any adults, a cell phone would at least give the kid a sense of safety, if not the parents, so the kid will not panic.

kids should be able to bring phones to school because if they don't then if some kid brings a gun to school they can't call the police

Yes they should because if u have a phone and u bring it to school u might as well have it out because your going over the same thing everyday
