As this is a "should" question, you are likely to get several opinions.
Answer 1
The question as posed misses a very important point. In order to have a "should" question, both of the options have to be viable. For example, if someone asked "Should I read this list to you?" and that person was illiterate, then there is no viability for the "yes" option. The person is incapable of performing the task.
The same problem is present here as well. The United States does not represent the views of the Israelis or the Palestinians. Only those two parties can come to any viable agreement. Any agreement foisted upon them will be rejected outright by both parties. Therefore, it would be impossible for the United States to actually resolve the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. However, I do support the United States helping facilitate negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians and any other parties that may be beneficial to negotiations. This is because I wish for a peace agreement and the United States seems to have the best track-record of bringing together Middle-Eastern rivals where Israel is concerned. (Egypt, Jordan, and the Oslo Accords)
Let us resolve our differences.
Shortly after World War 2, the U.S and NATO deployed to resolve the conflict in Korea. This led to the Korean War between NATO and North Korea + China + Soviet Union.
Conflict is part of the burden of life, the cross that we have all to bear. Because we are all made differently, have our own, particular past, we will mostly act in terms of our own self-interest. And acting in our own self-interest will in most instances produce conflict. So what can we do but hope that sooner or later we find someone who, if we are willing to listen to them, is also willing to listen to us. For before we can resolve any conflict, we must learn how to listen. Nothing can be resolved unless the two complaints are on the table and both parties are listening to each other to resolve their conflict.
US Forces should continue to adhere to the LOAC principles.
Also known as the Compromise of 1850. In US history, legislative proposals designed to resolve the conflict between North and South over the issue of slavery in the new territories. The Compromise was triggered by the request of California to be admitted to the Union as a state without slavery. Various concessions had to be made to the slavery states before California was allowed to do so. Although the Compromise failed to permanently resolve the conflict, it temporarily revitalized the Union, postponing the US Civil War for ten years.
