cold. If you open the radiator when the car is hot, it can spray all over the place.
this should be marked on side of overflow tank, cold mark and hot mark, but check tank when cold and bring up to cold mark!!
check antifreeze level
Make sure it is full of coolant. There probably is a small leak causing the smell. Check it cold as sometimes it leaks cold but not hot.
On the dipstick there is a safe range. You can check it either hot or cold. When cold the level should be close to the bottom of the safe range. When hot it should be close to the top of the safe range.
Most likely cause is low coolant. Check your antifreeze level.
Normally your dipstick has a hot and cold mark on it. If not check it hot, always check it with the engine running on an even surface.
Every 4 hour
You check the transmission fluid when its hot
It could if you are running it in very cold or very hot weather. In the winter, the engine has to warm the fluids and since the fluids are cold and thick, it takes more engine force to move them. In the summer, they are too thin so the engine isn't fighting the viscosity of the fluids. It's always best to make sure antifreeze/coolant is full. Always check them when the engine is hot. NEVER check Radiator HOT!
check the antifreeze
Apparently when its hot it should be higher than the cold level I read this in my owners manuel .. not very helpful..
Antifreeze helps the engine run cooler in the hot months and prevents the coolant from freezing in cold weather.
