People should use rosaries to pray because they can focus on certain parts of the beads to pray to different people for different problems they might have. I also think that the beads help Catholics to remember to focus on certain events in the history of Christianity. I also think that when people think about all the missions that God has sent people on like Mary having Jesus that it could make them think about what God is asking them to do. People should not use rosaries to pray because they distract you from listening to God and telling God what you need to speak to him about because you are too busy pray all the different prayers on the rosary.

∙ 10y agoNo, not really. The rosary is a private devotion, so there are no "rules" about what you have to do to pray it. That being said, during private revelation, such as Our Lady at Fatima, she specifies that one needs to pray "a part", which Sister Lucy has said means 1/3 (or 1/4 of the new Rosary definition). In other words, to fulfill the requirements needed for an indulgence, or the requirements that Our Lady asked for, you should use all the beads. But it is still a praiseworthy practice even to pray one decade, in which you obviously would not be using all the beads. Thus the answer is "yes" you should use all the beads if you want to fulfill the requirements for an indulgence or to meet the requirements for a First Saturday devotion, but, no, you don't have to use all the beads all the time. I hope that makes sense, if not ask me, and I shall try to explain further.
