Not really-if it was actually stuck in the dogs back I think I would go and see a vet. If it was just old, loose hair that you can pull out with a brush that's normal. But if you are actually pulling...Personally I would see a vet.

You should be able to get access to it thru the trunk. Pull back the carpet/plastic on that side and find the cable going to the lid. Even if the cable is broken midway, you should be able to open it by pulling on the very end of the cable near the lid.
In some cases you can disconnect the plug on the ebrake switch. I was able to access it by pulling back on the ebrake side cover.
You should be able to if you want be careful at first if you feel pain stop. Just keep on pulling back on it a bit at a time especial when you are under the shower OS in the tub the warm water will make it easier. don't rush it and after a couple of days it will be free to pull right back.
